Program Executive Office Ships

The Program Executive Office, Ships manages acquisition for all current and future non-nuclear U.S. Navy surface ships. These ships range from frontline combatants to amphibious ships that transport Marines and their equipment to supply and replenishment cargo ships.

PEO Ships was created in November 2002 as part of a realignment of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition (ASN RDA) directorate. The reorganization created a stronger business focus and a more flexible and cost-effective management approach for developing and integrating technologies and systems across multiple ship classes. PEO Ships currently operates in conjunction with SEA 21 as the Team Ships organization; providing true cradle to grave ship acquisition support and management.
